My fiance` lost his job and wants to keep it a secret?

Honest as hard as jobs are to find I'd be telling everyone I knew that I was out of work. Networking & knowing some one who knows someone seems to be your best bet for finding jobs in this economy. Is he wanting to keep it secret because of the reason for leaving his job? If so just say his employer cut back...that's very common these days. I also don't think that if I was your close family member that I would like being lied to about it. Surely if someone asks point blank shouldn't he be at work, you won't lie to their face would you?
